Welcome to Maybehood
I’m Annabel, writer, popular culture vulture and Bristolian now turned south east Londoner.
My husband and I have been spanking our minds and money trying to have a family for eight years. We lost our first baby, conceived through NHS IVF, at 12 weeks. Six subsequent cycles, five miscarriages and four years later, I find myself in Maybehood – not knowing if I will ever become a mother.
Waterstones definitely doesn’t have a shelf for this one.
I wanted to write a blog that is funny, empathetic and supportive for women and men in our position, friends, parents and family alike. A space that shares dark wit and hard earned wisdom articulating the (often less spoken) journey between trying to conceive and coming out the other side, whatever that looks like. It’s time to take the pity out of this particularly shit party!
Watch out for my ‘Guest Vag’ feature where fellow compadres share their Maybehood.
